Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If you have years of experience on-site but lack the paperwork to prove it, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is your pathway to a formal qualification. RPL is a rigorous assessment process that validates the skills, knowledge, and experience you’ve already gained in the building and construction industry. Instead of studying what you already know, you provide evidence of your competence to fast-track your journey toward a Certificate IV or Diploma.

How the RPL process works
We have streamlined our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) process into four clear steps designed to make the pathway straightforward and supportive.
Step 1: Initial enquiry
- Complete the enquiry form to begin. Our team will discuss your background and provide an evidence guide outlining the types of documents that may support your application.
Step 2: Evidence review
- Submit your documents and work history for assessment. Our assessors review your experience against the qualification requirements and may request further information if needed.
Step 3: Competency conversation
- You will speak with an experienced assessor to discuss your practical knowledge, skills and industry experience.
Step 4: Outcome and gap training
- You will receive an advice letter outlining recognised units, any remaining gap training and the next steps toward qualification completion.
